Gabriel - Robocall Blocking, Scam Detection Alerts, and Live Crime Solving
It all started in 2019 when I received a text message.The message claimed to be from my wife, asking me to wire $500 to her. I knew immediately it was a scam. After researching, I discovered this was a big problem and vulnerable people where losing about $500 from each scam text message. I applied for and won a grant from the National Science Foundation (https://seedfund.nsf.gov/about/) to create Gabriel, named after the angel Gabriel - protector of communications.
Now, our mission is to protect people from Vishing and Smishing scams. And this is why we do not store your private information on our servers. And so we cannot possibly sell or share your information either. And that is why we also created the Purple Alert feature to protect your mom, my mom and all the people you love.
Even better, Gabriel is able to analyze SMS text messages in 20 different languages. Although it is impossible to block new numbers that don't have a history of making spam calls, we’ve identified telemarketers, and over two billion Caller IDs that may be used in SPAM and spoofing scams, and block them from ringing your phone.
Gabriel does not collect or store your private information on our servers. Gabriel does not sell or share your information with anyone for any purpose. An optional registration is included to redeem points and payouts, and for automatic complaint filing and registering your phone in your country’s Do Not Call Registry/Do Not Disturb list. This information is stored on your phone and not on our servers.
